Car Stereos: Honda Accord Sporadic Speaker System Outage, salvage yard, aftermarket radio

Question
My factory installed speaker system only works some times. There is often a popping sound when they come back on but the radio is playing all the while. Is there a simple main wire that is likely shorting out coming out of the radio that needs to be replaced? They either all work or none of them work.  It's a Honda Accord DX 1996.  Thanks!

Answer
Steve, the problem is inside your radio.  You can either have the radio repaired, buy a used one at a salvage yard or ebay, or just buy a new aftermarket headunit.  There is a wire inside your radio that, over time, has worked loose, and it just needs to be reattached.  If you choose to repair the radio, the cost will be close to the cost of buying a new aftermarket radio.  You can probably get one off ebay for less than half the price of the repairs, but it may have the same problem after a little while.  Hope this helps, Scott
