Car Stereos: Playing CD-Rs in factory 2002 Dodge Ram Stereo, dodge 2500 diesel, factory stereo

I have a 2002 Dodge 2500 diesel with a factory stereo I have tried playing a CD-
R in it and it will not play yet in my 2004 Suzuki Grand Viterra it will play on that
factory stereo, is it just the quality of the disc or is it the ability of the CD player
in the vehicle?

Hi Greg,

It's the player.  Many older model vehicles aren't equipped with lasers that can play burned discs.  Newer ones generally can.  You *might* find that particularly good quality CD-Rs with a low-speed burn will work in the older system, but generally, it's pretty hit-or-miss.
