Car Stereos: MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE 1997, mitsubishi eclipse 1997, eclipse spyder

Question
i have a single cd unit on my eclipse spyder 1997. will a dash multi disk unit (6)newer unit plug into my factory cassette deck? will any other cd 2 din units fit the factory wire harness. it must have a cd unit!!!!

Answer
Hi Robert,

I don't think there's an OEM Mitsubishi, or after-market, multi-disk changer that will work with your factory cassette deck.  If you can find a double-DIN Mitsubishi changer that is NOT made for the Infinity OEM sound system, it should use the same factory plug as the one in your Eclipse.  (This assumes that your Eclipse is not equipped with an Infinity system; if it is, then you'd want to look for an Infinity head unit to work with it).

Newer Eclipse audio systems use a separate display screen that's not part of the head unit.  One of these decks wouldn't work for you, as you don't have the separate display.  If you can find the features you want in a head unit made for a different Mitsubishi model, it should also work in your car; though you'll need to retain your original radio's mounting brackets to make a new unit fit.

Note that most Mitsubishi radios include an anti-theft code system.  If you use a radio from a different vehicle, you'll need to know the unlock code for the radio or you won't be able to make it work in your Eclipse.

Hope this helps!

Brian
