Car Stereos: Lexus ES300 Stereo install, lexus es300, toyota vehicle

Question
I'm trying to install a new sony stereo in a 98 Lexus ES300 with the non-
nacamichi system. I bought an interface cable from installer.com but it only
covers one of the 2 connectors. Where can I find the right cable or a diagram to
make my own.

Answer
Hi Barry,

I'm assuming you have the 70-8112 interface.   If it fits one of the connectors at the back of the head unit, then it should work for your application.  I'm not certain of the function of the second connector you're seeing, but if it doesn't include any wires required for an after-market head unit, then you don't need a plug to fit it.  All the wires you need should be included in the 8112 adapter.

Does your vehicle include a separate trunk-mounted CD changer?  If so, the second connector may be linked to that unit.

On the other hand, if the 70-8112 adapter doesn't fit either of the plugs, then you may need an adapter made for a non-amplified Toyota vehicle.  To the best of my knowledge, all the Lexus ES300 (with or without Nakamichi audio) use a factory amplifier and require the 70-8112 adapter harness, but I could certainly be wrong.  If so, then the harness you need is the 70-1761.

Hope this helps!
