Car Stereos: right speakers, rca cables, vacant slots

Question
I have a 45x4 stereo reciever.i have installed a 1200 watts 2 channel amplifier on a 1000 watts 12 inch JBL subwoofer and it sounds fine.i have connected them using RCA cables.I have 2 factory speakers connected right to the speaker terminals of my steareo. So i have 2 more slot for 2 speakers. Is it ok to connect 2 more 2oo watts speakers on the vacant slots or do i need to get a lower wattage?|Please advice.I don't want to burn my receiver if i put too much wattage on the remaining 2 slots for the speakers. Thanks

Answer
Hi,

You'll be fine putting 200w speakers on it -- they'll just handle more power than the deck can put out -- make sure you only turn it up as much as the amp can handle (it'll start clipping and sound distorted when you go beyond what it can handle.)
