Hi Jan,

If the backlighting still works in the gauge cluster and other control buttons, then your problem is likely to be internal to the factory radio unit.  Problems like these are usually not something a dealer will fix; if the unit's out of warranty, you may need to find a local electronics repair shop willing to open it up and replace any defective bulbs.

It's possible that the problem is caused by a bad wire or poor connection in the radio harness.  This could be verified by removing the factory radio, then using a multimeter to test the voltage on the illumination wire.  A car audio installation shop could perform this service for you, as well as removing the factory radio unit if it needs to be repaired.
