Car Stereos: MOS-FET amps in head units, semi conductor, rear speakers

Hi Justin, simple question (I hope), is a the above just a marketing ploy, or is there a real world advantage? Also will fading out the rear speakers improve the power available to the front speakers? Many thanks.

mosfet is almost universally used these days in amplifiers, so it's not really important in choosing a unit.  It's just a type of technology used in the circuit (metal oxide semi-conductor).

As for fading rear speakers to increase the sound in the fronts?  Short answer: no.  It won't help.  Generally, they're rated for what they're rated for and won't go beyond it, regardless of what the other channel is doing.
