Car Stereos: gm 6 disk cd changer, compatibility problem, cd changer

I recently bought a 6 disk cd changer for my 05 sierra but the sound is very low when turned all the way up, does this radio need an external amp or is something wrong with it?

John, There is not quite enough information.  Is your new 6 disk changer a whole headunit with radio included?  If so, then there may be a problem with the wiring.  Either there is a factory amp that is not getting turned on, or your new headunit needs an amp, or there are some wires not going to the right places.  If you bought an add-on cd changer, there is probably a compatibility problem between the changer and the headunit.  If you would like a better shot at the problem, please let me know what make and model of cd changer you are using, and I can narrow your problem down very simply.  Hope this helps, Scott
