Car Stereos: audio problems, voltage spikes, gm car

Question
If for some reason your battery runs down. And you connect a battery charger to your car with radio in the on position. Could that cause any problem to your radio?

Answer
damond, Normally, that will not cause a problem.  Your electronics are made to accept rises and falls in voltage.  Also, there is a fuseblock that contains a fuse that protects your radio against voltage spikes.  If, for some reason, there is a direct wire to the battery, there is a slight chance that a short could reach the radio.  Otherwise, no charging the battery should not affect stereo whatsoever.  If you have a GM car from 98 - current, you may have to enter a code to reset your radio.  The dealer has to do that.  Hope this helps, Scott
