Car Stereos: No Power to Dashboard Gages After Installing New Stereo, monte carlo ss, reading zero

I installed a new stereo in my 2000 Monte Carlo SS after
the one that was in died. We got the new one in and working with little trouble but once we were done none of
the dashboard gages work. They're all reading zero. We
checked the fuses but can not find the problem. What should
our next step be? How do we fix this? The gas gage was reading off but working?

Hi Anthony,

It's still almost certainly a fuse.  Many vehicles have two fuses for every function now -- one of them is under the hood, and the other is in the passenger compartment (usually near the driver).  Either that or you've disconnected a harness somewhere behind the dash, although that's far less likely.
