Car Stereos: car speakers in parallel, 4 ohms, stereo amp

Question
how do i hook up front and rear speakers in parallel. Not a sub.

Answer
ebbin, If you hook up the front speakers in parallel, you will lose the ability to balance from side to side.  Also, you may lower the channel ohms to less than what the stereo amp can handle.  Many stereos can only handle down to 4 ohms per channel.  If you wire your speakers in parallel, and they are 4 ohms each, that channel will only be 2 ohms, and may blow the amp.  If you want to wire it that way, wire the two positives together from each speaker.  Wire the two negatives together from each speaker.  Then run a wire from the positive wires to the positive wire of either the right or left channel.  Then, run a wire from the negative wires to the negative of the same channel the positive was hooked to.  Then, you are hooked up.  Good Luck, Scott
