Do I need to connect the yellow 15A wire to the battery?

Answer
You connect any stereo wires directly to the battery.  It should be connected to the wire under the dash that goes directly to the battery.  That wire is fused, and will not cause damage to anything if there is a short somewhere.  The red wire goes to the switched power wire under the dash.  Hope this helps, Scott
