Car Stereos: subwoofer, rockford fosgate punch, fosgate amps

Question
Hi there.
What amplifier do I have to buy for the TS-SWX310 subwoofer enclosure?? This enclosure has an output power of 250W (RMS) / 1000W (PMPO).
Thanks for your help, and don't worry about prices on amps. I have never understand how to mix subs and amps.

Answer
David,  This is a little bit of a loaded question.  There are many amps that will match the power of that sub enclosure, but that much power will most likely overpower your stock stereo system.  A really good amp with enough power to push that sub enclosure is a Rockford Fosgate Punch P250.2.  It puts out 250 watts "rms" into 1 channel when bridged.  Fosgate amps have top of the line circuitry and decent prices.  Just be warned, if you are using your stock oem stereo for the mids and highs, it is about 15 - 20 watts "rms", and your sub should not have more than 4 times the power.  So, the max for your sub should be about 100 watts "rms".  Most amps have adjustable gains, so you can turn the power down to match your system.  Hope this helps, Scott
