Car Stereos: 1990 Chevy Silverado Radio reinstallation, chevy silverado, chevrolet silverado

Question
I asked yesterday about how and where the controller connects to the receiver in my 1990 Chevrolet Silverado. I'm trying to restore the OEM radio system. You sent me an e-mail asking for the year and model of my truck so that you could answer my question.

Answer
Hi Ronald,

The amp/tuner (silver box) part of the system should have a socket on the top with four sections, as well as an antenna port.  The vehicle's power and speaker wire plug should connect to the top of the amp/tuner pack.  The power and speaker wiring will usually consist of a black 6-pin plug, a white 4-pin plug and a blue 4-pin plug.  These fill three of the four sections on the top (the fourth is unused).  The antenna also connects on the top.

The plug from the controller connects to the bottom side of the amp/tuner pack.  There should be two sockets on this side.  One is for the controller plug; the other is for the optional cassette player.

The amp/tuner pack is mounted above and to the right of the gas pedal (behind the ash tray).

I hope this helps!
