Car Stereos: No sound From Speakers, aftermarket radio, definite problem

Question
Up until about a month ago all my speakers wee working flawlessly. then all of a sudden i would intermittently loose sound from all speakers at once usually when i hit a bump. i could usually get the sound back by wiggling the wires in the back of the stereo. I took the radio out because i was getting irritated. i took it apart and there was a little bit of corrosion. i think some water may have gotten in it because my windshield was leaking. i decided that i would hardwire the stereo to the battery and hook a speaker up to it. the radio turned on and spun the cd but still no sound. it also registered that the cd was playing and transmitting sound. i think the amp inside the radio might be fried but i am not completely sure.

Thanks

Answer
Zach,

It seems you went to extremes to get your stereo working.  With a water leak in the system, it is very likely something inside the stereo got shorted out.  If you like the stereo and it's features, I would recommend taking it to an electronics repair shop, and they will replace any faulty parts for around $100 - $150.  If you were wanting a different radio with some better features, now is the time to start looking.  You can buy a nice aftermarket radio for around $200, and it will have the features you like.  Sorry about the water leak, but it does sound like the definite problem.  Hope this helps, Scott
