Car Stereos: 2002 Grand Am - Aux Input, new i pod, i pod nano

Question
How can I hardwire a new I Pod Nano into the stock stereo?  Is there an adapter I can just buy and plug into the back of the head unit and just choose aux on front when I want to go to it?

Answer
Hi Ryan,

There are a few 3rd-party adapters available that will do what you want.  One option is this model from Precision Interface Electronics:

This will provide an auxiliary input in the form of a pair of RCA jacks.  You can purchase an inexpensive Y-adapter cable at any electronics store that will let you connect your iPod's headphone jack to the RCA plugs on the interface adapter.  Or, you can get another accessory that will let you use the docking connector on the bottom of your iPod with the interface adapter:

The advantage to this is that it will also allow you to charge your iPod through the connector.

Hope this helps!
