Car Stereos: car radio problem, chevy pickup truck, sony xplod

Hello.  I  recently purchased a Sony Xplod system from walmart (hopefully you know the $90 special one lol) well my dad and I put it in today in my 1986 chevy pickup truck.  We used the old power wire (yellow-which there was grey and black still left over) to connect the red and yellow wires for power off the radio.  Eveything seemed to work great the cd player works and everything, but there is no FM/AM reception at all.  We thought maybe the antenna was bad so we tried a different one instead ( off the same kind of truck) and there still was nothing. maybe you can help us out. thanks a lot.- Adam

Hi Adam,

To start with, get the wiring harness for your truck and don't bother splicing the factory wires.  Until you do that, troubleshooting what's wrong is near impossible and pointless.

Beyond that, it should just be a case of plugging the antenna that was in the old deck into the new one -- the hookup should be the same.
