Car Stereos: car sound problems, car cd player, acura integra

hello im wondering if you could give me any advice regarding my car cd player. i have a acura integra and the original cd player. when i turn on a cd or fm radio it plays for about ten seconds then becomes really static and the sound shuts off, then i have to wait for a few min. and the sound comes back and the pattern continues.  i checked the wiring and have no clue what this could be. any ideas?

It sounds as if the radio has some sort of short inside of it.  Most times, if the player is not responsive at all, these shorts are fairly easy to fix by a professional.  With yours, it sounds like it is a heat issue, not quite a full short, so it may be harder to pinpoint.  Either way, a good stereo shop can repair the problem for about $200, or replace the stereo completely for about $50 plus the cost of the new radio.  Hope this helps, Scott
