Car Stereos: Lots of Fog lights and power needed?, watt amplifiers, fog lights

Question
I have a 2004 Silverado with stock battery and alternator.  I am looking at adding several sets of driving/fog lights for off road use while camping and such.  My concern is what about all that extra "juice" being drawn from my truck while in use (all at once).  Do I need a new battery, or bigger alt., or both, if so what recomendations do you have?  Thank you so much for your time.

Answer
Hi Jason,

The factory alternator will quite comfortably handle a healthy bit of extra draw.  Exactly how many extra sets of lights and what kind of wattage are you looking to draw from them?  A lot of people put 5-600 watt amplifiers in their cars which will likely draw more than your fog lights will.

If you do experience dimming or your vehicle is weakened by the things, you might look into getting your factory alternator rewound.
