Car Stereos: factory radio not working; equalizer blinking on 2001 chrysler sebring convertible limited edition, chrysler sebring convertible, inline fuse

Question
I have a 4 CD, radio with cassette and equalizer that just stopped working
one day. the clock is also not working as it is part of the radio "screen". The
equalizer continues to blink green when the car is on. I have replaced the
radio fuse to no avail. I am getting ready to take it to the dealer but would
really appreciate your advice before I invest another $1000 in a car with
100,000 miles.

Please help
Thanks

Answer
Hi Maureen,

Is the EQ located in the same place as the rest of the stereo?  If so, it's not going to be a fuse issue since theyll share a fuse.  If it's mounted somewhere else, it's probably on its own fuse.

You might need to remove the deck and check its wiring, and see if it has its own inline fuse.  Test and replace any other fuses you might find.  If the vehicle has 100k miles, and the stereo is approaching the same age as the car, it could be dead too.

The dealership is NEVER the right answer in these situations.  You can have a brand new high end system including subwoofer installed for less than the $1000 the dealer will charge you.  You can get an aftermarket deck thatll do what you need installed probably under $200.

Good luck,
Justin
