Car Stereos: No cd or ipod playback, dodge ram 2500, premium system

I have a Alpine CDE-9852 that I had installed in my '95 Dodge Ram 2500 two years ago.  Since then I have gotten a new truck which is same only 4 years newer.  I took the radio out of the old truck and used the wiring that Best Buy had used in my new truck.  When I tried out the radio, I could recieve am/fm fine, but I wouldn't get sound from my cd's or ipod.  For cd's it reads it and plays like should only no sound and it will play a selection for 10 minutes that I know should be shorter.  For ipod, it reads it and powers it up but again, plays for to long.  Did i screw up the wiring possibly or is it something else?

Hi Damian,

Did the factory stereo work in the new truck before you pulled it out?  Also, does it possibly have a factory premium system that the old truck did not?  Finally, and it might sound weird, but make sure that the volume is up, the fade/balance is OK, and all the wires are cleanly connected and nothing got pinched or disconnected.
