Car Stereos: amlifiers, 4 ohm speakers, watt amp

Question
i recently purchased a set of 100 rms @ 4 ohm speakers for the front of my car and a set of 250 rms speakers for the rear of my car and i am having trouble finding an amp that mathces such specifications per channel, do you have any suggestions? or would you recomend buying a seperate amp for both sets? thanks

Answer
Hi Andy,

You needn't match the wattage of the speakers with the amplifiers perfectly.  If you've got 2 100rms speakers and 2 250rms speakers, any amplifier with at least 3-500 watts of power should do just fine.  You can go all the way up to a 6 or 800 watt amp as well.  Just make sure you set the gain on the amp so that it puts out the right kind of volume for the speakers' abilities without distortion or burning, and you'll be fine.
