Question
im gonna get these http://www.jcwhitney.com/300-WATT-2-PIECE-MODULAR-SPEAKER-BOXES/GP_2011276_N_111... in my car. at the bottom it has the guage size for the cords. what does that mean and what size do i need? if it helps i have a 2003 pontiac sunfire with the stock subs in the back whitch is what i am replacing. also, if i need to find the guage size, how would i find it?

Answer
Hi Will,

The gauge is the thickness of the cords.  The lower the number, the thicker the cable.  You need to ensure you get wires that are thick enough to carry the signal without loss or heat buildup, but with speakers, contrary to popular belief, they don't need to be very thick at all.  14 or 16 gauge should be fine for those speakers.
