Car Stereos: hooking up amp and sub, level outputs, speaker level

Question
I have a 2004 Denali with the bose sound/nav sys. I want to hook up and after market amp and sub.  Can i just splice into sires going to the factory amp under the center console and add in a RCA adapter.  Then i was planning on just running my aftermarket sub and amp from there.  Will this work?  Is this the best option?

Answer
Hi Brad,

No, you can't connect RCAs to speaker level outputs.  The easiest option is to go buy an amp that does speaker level outputs, then you can splice and run that to the amp.  If you already have an amp, and it doesn't have speaker level inputs, you'll need to buy a piece of hardware that converts speaker level (high level) input to RCA (low level) output.
