Auto Racing: quick hp, cold air kit, stock components

Question
QUESTION: I got a 91 camaro rs 305 throttle body. all original with only 41000 miles on.  Just trying to figure out what i can do pretty easy to get alot more horsepower.  I got about 600 bucks to put in to it. Just wanted a little knowledge.  I was thinking about a new cam and a power chip but thats about all i know i can do.  Please help

ANSWER: If you read through some of my previous answers there is one outlining what to do tot he 305 engine. I would definitely get the chip. Then a cold air kit and a better exhaust. Thats about the most you can do for $600.00.

QUESTION: what kind of exhaust do you suggest.  Hey I appreciate you helping me out.  You would not suggest a new cam?

Answer
I would go with the Dynomax system for your car. The reason is 1. It fits 2. It won't drive you nuts with the interior droning that flowmasters have 3. The systems are aluminized and are relatively low priced. The edelbrock header and exhaust system is better but costs allot more.
As for the cam change, I prefer to fine tune the stock components to the max before upgrading to aftermarket performance parts. Without a new intake, torque converter and gears the cam change will show a minimal improvement.
HP Books also has a nice book that is dedicated to modifying your year f-body. Check it out!
