Auto Racing: My new dodge, wiring loom, spare wheel

Question
I just recently bought a dodge ram with a 5.9L V8. Although the truck has a fairly big motor, I know that if I have any hope at all to compete on my local track I'll need more than just stock equipment. What can I do to make my truck faster?

Answer
Well Tyson there are a number of things you could do to go faster but it mostly depends on the regulations of the series or event you are racing in ?

Always remember that there is alot more to a quick lap time than just Horsepower so the first thing you need to look at is making the whole vehicle lighter.  Do away with the spare wheel , passenger seats , bull bars etc.  After all you dont need them when your racing. And loosing 200kg in weight will make it feel like you have 50 more BHP!!!

But if it is more BHP your after then the first step for a big increase would be to do away with the stock inlet system and go for a set of 8 pot throttle bodies with fuel injection.  Obviously you would need a wiring loom and ECU which dont come cheap but as im sure your aware that motorsport isn't cheap either !!!

If you need any more info let me know - Good luck !!
