Auto Racing: tunnig, throttle body coolant, cold air intake

I have a (1992-1995)1992 MAZDA 929 and i needed and wanted to kno what i can do to my car as far as performance and custom work

From what I see there isn’t a lot out there for your car, assuming it is the 3.0L V6, but I didn’t see another engine listed. Best place to start is with a cold air intake (Remember, if you live in an area with stringent emission laws you should find a CARB certified unit) and then do some exhaust work. If your stock pipe diameter is 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 I would not worry about increasing the diameter of it. Instead start by replacing the stock catalytic converter with a high flow unit then, if desired, replace the muffler with a performance oriented unit. Personally I would not use the standard “fart can” muffler, a nice flow master or similar unit would give your V6 a nice low and unique sound.   

There are also little things you could do that give it a little extra, such as…
•   Throttle body coolant bypass
•   Central grounding unit
•   Voltage stabilizer (I have never used this)
•   Light weight wheels

Most cars have a coolant supply and return going through the throttle bodies. In most cases this line is unnecessary, unless you live in extremely cold areas. It is as simple as disconnecting the 2 lines from the throttle body and connecting them to each other so the coolant no longer passes through the throttle body. If you do a search under the above criteria it should turn up several how to’s. The benefit of this is that your air intake temperature will lower quite a bit and cooler air = more HP.  

• Central grounding unit

A simple e-bay grounding kit should suffice; the basic premise is to eliminate static charges in your ECU, fuel system, etc… which enables the car to run more efficiently. The trick is all in the grounding points. Either Super Street or Sport Compact Car did a test on these a while back and it yield dramatic increases in power. I want to say it was 8-12 HP, but I could be wrong, it will vary from car to car also.  I use these on all of my cars, as they are cheap and proven to work. Typically I make a connection to the…

•   Alternator bracket
•   ECU Ground

You may have some left over, so just be creative. I also would not ground directly to a sensor/sending unit. Did this help clarify things?
