Auto Racing: superchargers, eaton m45, suzuki gsx1100

Question
Hi, I was hoping you might be able to give me some advice...

I am in the process of restoring a 3 Series BMW E30 M10 1.8L and have fitted a set of Suzuki GSX1100 Mikuni carbs on a custom manifold and re-jetted to suit. Initially, I wanted to bolt a blower onto the motor, but the bike carbs make this a difficult task. If I pressurise the float bowls to the 5psi I want to run, I would then have to increase the fuel pressure to about 8psi and I dont think the carbs could handle this without custom floats and valves. So I thought about using a draw through setup (as I had on my Lancia VX) running off a Weber DTML, but then can't use an intercooler, besides losing the lovely sound of four carbs pumping their little hearts out!
I intend to use my Eaton M45 from a Mercedes SLK 2.0L as opposed to my M45 from a Mini Cooper 'S' due to size and configuration (the SLK inlet/outlet are on the same side) and was going to plumb the carb onto the inlet via an adapter and run a duct from the outlet to the original carb manifold. Then position a bypass/blow-off valve on the original manifold.  Also, I was going to jet the carb with 190 mains (this is what I had in the Lancia ands that was a 2.0L) and leave it at that.
Does this sound like it might work? I would rather run a bit rich than lean.

any advice is welcomed!!!!!!

kind regards
Rob

Answer
Hi Rob- - - this is completely out of my league.  My first and probalby only answer would be to stay with the draw-thru setup and skip the intercooer.  Just duct as much outside air as you can. A few years ago I saw a V-8 with a belt driven McCulloch type blower with a plenum built completely around dual Holly Four Barrels and a see through top. Cool looking setup but I don't know how well it ran. It was a show car - - -may have been a serious head-to-head drag car too.

As a way of explaining , I have never worked with forced induction, and it's not allowed in our kind of racing.

There are some pretty sharp guys at Summit Racing <www.summitracing.com> but mostly they speak Chevy and drag racing.

I do like your idea though and would like to hear what you finally do and the results - -

Really sorry to be such a dope- - - good luck in your searching .
