Auto Racing: nasty wheel hop, passenger car tires, wheel drive cars

Question
Hi, I have a question for ya. I have a front wheel drive car and when I accelerate on wet pavement hard, the car shakes violently, I know this is refered to as wheel hop, and I'm trying to find the most effective way of reducing/eliminating this. Can you help me? Is it my tires? Cuz they're probably 70% worn. I hope you can help, thanks.

Answer
Justin-

It depends a lot on what kind of car you have, but there are 3 basic solutions.  The first would be better tires.  Even if your tires are in good shape, most common passenger car tires aren't made for hard launches on wet surfaces.  Second would be a limited slip differential if your car doesn't have one already.  These can make a huge difference in traction as well as everyday driving.  Lastly, many aftermarket manufacturers have taken to making traction bars for front wheel drive cars.  These are likely only available for the more popular sport compacts like Honda Civics/Accords, Ford Focuses (or is it Focii?), and the like.  Just do a quick web search and I'm sure if it's out there you can find it.  Hope this helps.
