Auto Racing: 82 5.0 h.0, double hump, lifter


Question
Are 302 h.o engines worth rebuilding or should I find a newer roller motor.I like the idea of keeping the org motor.DUe to my budget , the engine has almost 300k but still runs .but has alobe down on the cam.Just figured it might be the route to go?upgrades are weiland intake holly 600,bourg and warner t-5 hayes 10inch clutch true duals run side by side.never went 4 the double hump.please help because I miss driving the old girl. also 87 e7 heads

  Well...the newer roller motors are good, but on a budget you might consider rebuilding.  I'm find it a bit curious that you're down a lobe on the cam.  It would be extremely unusual for a cam to actually break.  Are you sure it's not just a collapsed lifter?  Selection for aftermarket cams is certainly better with roller blocks, but otherwise the two blocks are virtually identical.  Hope this helps.
