Auto Racing: sticking to the track, eagle talon, sarasota fl

Question
I race a 4cyl eagle talon on a 7/16 oval black top track with a slight bank.My problem is after a few laps into the race the car wants to climb up the track and the rt front tire begins to smoke.I allready have the max allowed 5deg camber in the right front wheel. I run a 195/60r14 street tire and have tried 15in tires but don't seem to get the speed out of them. How can I cure this problem?

Answer
Hi Darrell:

Try stiffening the rear roll.  Do you have a sway bar on the rear, if not , try adding one to stop body roll and reduce weight transfer. What's happening is that as the car rolls to the right , it transfers weight to the rt. front from the left rear.

The reason the car starts acting up after a fer laps is that you are overheating that RF tire. That is what you need to combat.

How much toe out are you running ?  Try running about 1/8 " of total toe out and see if it doens't turn in a little better.  It should also be more stable in the middle of the turn. Once you've done these things, you might try running a slightly stiffer spring in the right rear.  This will also combat the roll and have the added advantage of keeping some weight on the LF tire.

Remember when doing set up tricks, do ONLY  one thing at a time, and keep a written notebook including driver input, and lap times.  Even if the car feels awkward, the lap times tell the true story.
Let me know how this works please.
