Auto Racing: Superchargers, mustang drag racing, vortech supercharges

Question
i was wondering if your stock engine had a centerfrugial supercharger stock if you could add a vortech supercharger and i was wondering if you could have two vortech supercharges and the stock centerfrugial supercharger at one time i have seen a twin turbo system and i know a supercharger runs on belts but i was just curious about this and wondered if u could run the two vortechs and the stock or if you could even run two vortechs at a time
        thanks, Alex

Answer
Alex-

While I don't know of any vehicles coming from the factory with centrifugal blowers (unless you count tuner cars like Steeda's Q400 Mustang), "dual-charging" as it's called, has never become practical.  The first time I ever saw it tried was on a car owned by one of the big names in early EFI Mustang drag racing, Craig Radovich.  To my knowledge he never got the two blowers to work quite right with each other.  The setup also involved blowers mounted on opposite sides of the engine, a ridiculously elaborate array of piping, a custom intake, and custom computer setups.  Twin turbocharing is different since the word "twin" is generally misleading.  A better term would be "sequential" since they usually employ a smaller turbo to kick in at lower rpm and a bigger turbo to take over at higher rpms.  Turbos are easier to package in pairs as well since they don't require things like extra belts and pulleys.  Hope this helps.
