Auto Racing: Differential, arb air locker, sarasota florida

Question
I was wondering what type of differential was best for drag racing, ARB air locker, Eaton E-Locker, or detriot locker,or if you have another good one tell me, this diff has to stand up to 1200+lbft of torque and the only downside to Eaton and ARB is they don't support 40 spline, will 35 be enough?, thank you for your help, if you need more info to answer the question better please ask.

Answer
Hi Joe:

I haven't been around drag racing since we started off a flagman. Back then we used to weld the spider gears to make a locker.

On my road racer, I have several different types of posi rear ends available and one is a Detroit.   It works well but if the car will also be used on the street it is VERY noisey.

Around here a lot of guys use Frankland rears. He makes quick change units based on the Ford 9" , and I'm sure many others.  They are working well on our GT-1 cars some of which are putting out nearly 800 horsepower.

I just did some looking around and couldn't find any contact info. I'll have to do some calling tomorrow. Write again if you need it.

I wish I could offer more accurate info, you might try writing my friend Randy Cooper , he's an engine builder,
and has done a lot of drag racing more recently than I have. You can reach him at:<<fastcash@cehighperformance.com>>

Good luck in your search !
