Auto Racing: small cars vs large cars, mid size car, full size cars
QuestionI would be happy if you could answer my queston.Which car can pull out into fast moving traffic faster a compact or a large sedan? I have driven both in my long life[75 year old female]I am now driving a 1993 Toyota Corolla. I feel it is easier with this car then with the Pontiac Bonneville which I drove before to get out quickly.A gentleman,& I use the term loosely,I know disagrees. Thanks,
Liz
AnswerLiz-
It all depends on the car. Generally small cars are better for fast maneuvering, but it depends a lot on engine power, weight, acceleration, and steering rack ratios. A large car with a better steering ratio and better acceleration would probably out-maneuver a compact car, but that's usually not the case. I, for one, would rather have a mid-size car. They generally have close to the same maneuverability of a smaller car and close to the power of a bigger car. As for large full size cars, they're generally too heavy for quick moves and have an almost numb steering feel. I am, of course, speaking of newer cars. Older large cars like the late 60's and early 70's muscle cars would be a different story. Hope this helps.
