Auto Racing: ram air upgrade, sport compact magazine, trans am ram air

Question
Hello, going to say sorry up front for my spelling. Ok I have a 2001 nissan frontier with the 2.4L. Im working on a ram air hood to replace the stock hood, I'm not sure how to do the duct work under the hood. I can get it all run but i'm not sure what i need to do with the air sencer? Will it work if its mounted in the pipe just before the air filter? Is there anything i need to do to make sure it will run right with more air getting to the motor or will it do it on its own? Any other info you can think of that my be of help in this would be great. Going for the trans am ram air hood look, well close to it. Thank you for your time hope to hear from you soon.

Answer
Hi Brian:

I will apologize too, for my lack of knowledge regarding fuel injection systems.  I was able to figure out my old (1976 ) 280 Z cars, but simply haven't worked with anything newer.

It's possible that your air mass sensor would work fine in front of the air filter, on the other hand, it might not work at all, or work poorly. If the sensor is designed to read air temperature, it should be as close to the throttle body as possible. Otherwise, an incorrect temperature reading will cause it to run rich , using escess gas, or lean, risking internal damage.

You might want to get a copy of Sport Compact magazine, and order a subscription, it's full of info, and many many advertisers who should be able to help you.

Best of luck !
