Auto Racing: Rocker Arm Studs, pedestal mount, roller rockers

Question
Hi Steve my Question is this I have a 1979 mustang foxbody 5.0 I want to replace the cam I have in it now with a slightly bigger solid cam. Right now I have pedestal mount roller rockers (this is not a roller type camshaft setup) I know I can't use this style. So what i want to do is replace them with screw in studs. They make a set of studs that you can install with out milling down the stud boss this style stud has no nut shoulder to tighten with all you have is small ring that divides the to different threads. If I use this will I still need guide plates? If so Have any ideas as to how to make this work.  Also i do have the special tool that you use to install this style stud this makes it easy to align holes perfectly  Any and all imput would be greatly app.
Thanks in advance
Gary

Answer
Gary-

Honestly, if you're married to the idea of a solid roller cam (which would be wicked...those cams just sound plain mean), I'd put the extra money into the head work to get true screw-in studs.  Either way you go I'd still recommend guide plates.  Solid lifter cams are a bit more harsh on a valvetrain than a hydraulic cam so any extra safety measures are good.  Keep in mind that you'll have to keep a close eye on your valvetrain since solid lifter cams seem to throw all but the most bulletproof valvetrains out of tune in short order.  Hope this helps.
