Auto Racing: short blocks, motor ignition, cylinder models

Question
i am going to install a racing shortblock into my 99 eclipse. i was wondering, what would i need to maintain and handle a 700 hp shortblock?
Example-would i need a special exhaust manifold or ignition or fuel upgrades? Just what would i need to handle it?

Thanks

Answer
Joshua-

Aside from the shortblock itself, you're looking at some major upgrades.  The exhaust manifold itself will probably have to be swapped for one with bigger diameter primary tubes.  This will allow for the exhaust flow necessary to sustain that level of power.  As for fuel, bigger fuel rails, injectors, and a fuel pump (and possibly a secondary inline pump) will be needed.  I know imports measure their injectors in cc's, but I know a domestic of that power level would need at least 50lb/hr injectors.  Not sure how that conversion is made, but any parts store worth their tools could tell what you'd need to safely run a 700hp motor.  Ignition will also be a priority, especially if you're going to run forced induction (turbo, nitrous, etc.).  You'll need a high powered ignition and better spark plugs.  You'll also want to consider investing in a tuneable fuel injection management system since tuning will become a big issue with that kind of power.  I know Accel, FAST, and SDS all make 4 and 6 cylinder models that are user programmable.  You'll also need to look at drivetrain upgrades.  Mitsubishis certainly aren't my specialty, but I can tell you for sure that you stock transmission, clutch, and axles won't handle 700hp for very long.  I'd look around your town for any local speed shops and get ahold of them.  They should be able to give you exact information and part numbers (and probably a pretty good deal) for all of the stuff you'll need.  Hope this helps.
