NASCAR Racing: state of nascars future, chevy ford, matt kenseth

Question
QUESTION: I see that nascar is concerned about loosing fans, and I am
surprised that you don`t see certain things that I do.
First, I don`t know why it has taken so long to see that Ford has not been in victory lane, and that you added Toyota,(A Foreign car company)to eat our lunch. With the state of our economy, why are we not waving the American Flag more?

ANSWER: Hi Jeff,

First, I'd just like to clarify that I do not work for, or am associated with Nascar. I don't mean to favor any make or car (though I do have my favorite as chevy).  The teams that run Ford cars and engines...well I don't really know what's going on with them. Rousch Racing used to be real good when they had Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards going real strong...they both have slumped off some recently.
The addition of Toyota was a point of high controversy. It seems like NASCAR is more interested in promoting and growing itself, rather than the economy for domestic cars (chevy, ford, dodge). In the business model it has set out it probably made sense for them to add Toyota on because it was more competition...and the more competition there is, the more revenue they make.
But I don't know what ultimately played into that decision.

Hope this helped,
Coy Jordan

QUESTION: First I want to thank you,for your response to my letter.
I would like to see somone other than Jimmy Johnson win races.
I know he is a good driver,as is Kyle Bush, but to sit and watch a race for three hours and see two drivers win all the races,is hard.
I think NASCAR needs to find a way to get the other teams to be competitive. Is that possible?

Answer
It is hard to see Johnson and Busch have somewhat of a "Monopoly" on all the races. They are really the leading drivers for their makes (Chevy and Toyota). So they always seem to be in position to win.

I don't know what Nascar could do to even it back out to other drivers. It can't really do much without favoring teams. I think that the other teams (RCR, Stewart-Haas, DEI, etc.) need to step up their programs. I also think Hendrick's camp should focus more on Dale Jr and Martin. That would be great to have all 4 of those guys in a 1,2,3,4 finish at the end of the year!

Anyway, Nascar can only do so much. They make "uniform" changes that apply to everyone, (rules, restrictor plate size, etc). So all I can see that is changeable is teams stepping up to the plate.

Hope this answered it,
