NASCAR Racing: no doors on cars, aerodynamic properties, car down

Question
Why don't they have doors on the cars

Answer
Hello Lauren,

They don't put the doors on the cars because they aren't needed for the purpose of the car. The car was meant to go fast, not carry people and go on comfortable trips. Doors also add to the weight of the car (bad for racing), and take away aerodynamic properties (also bad for the car). So they aren't there because they would have no purpose and slow the car down.

Hope I helped!
