NASCAR Racing: Autobiographies, riverhead raceway long island, dale earnhardt inc

QUESTION: How many NASCAR drivers have autobiographies?  Is it fair to expect one from Dale Earnhardt Jr.?  Get it 'auto' biographies?  My new husband has stirred an interest in me and now I'm trying to develop a further understanding.  I was only into local modified driving at Riverhead Raceway--Long Island...NY

ANSWER: Hi Loretta,

I get the 'auto' biography joke, very clever. Dale Jr has put one out called "Driver #8."  It was about his rookie season with Dale Earnhardt Inc.  He probably will put another one out at the end of his career...hopefully more than 20 years from now.  I don't have a number of the drivers who have autobiographies, but nearly all the legendary drivers do, and a select few of the current drivers.  They take a while to develop and if a driver chooses to do one, they will normally dictate what is to be said in the book in the off season, when they are not racing.  So look for new releases in the beginning of each season.

QUESTION: Thank you.  The library had a copy of #8 available.  I asked a question about yacht racing.  Do you know if any of the auto racers get involved with the sport?  Thanks again for the rapid response!

Hi again,

I do not know exactly if the drivers do the yacht racing.  At the track in Daytona, Florida they have a huge lake called "Lake Floyd" and some of the drivers bring their boats down there and run those for a while, but i cannot definitively say either way.
