NASCAR Racing: passing on pit row under yellow, pace car, pit stall

Question
A yellow comes out. The pace car collects the field. Pit road opens. All the cars come down. The car in the lead has a pit stall that is *before* the start/finish line. He pulls in and many of the other cars pass him and some cross the start finish line to get their service. At that point, who is in the lead?

Answer
Hi Roger,
At that point the cars that have the pit stalls past the start/finish line would be technically on the next lap and will be counted as ahead of the "leader."  This is why Pit Crews have vigorous training.  Positions can be gained or lost by the race off of pit road.
Hope I helped
