NASCAR Racing: racetrack officials shirt, nascar officials, track officials

Question
My brother gave me a shirt that he acquired that was worn by one of the race track officials in 2000. I have never seen a race track official's shirt for sale on ebay or any where else.  Why is that?  Is there a particular reason for not seeing them any where except on the official's during a race?  I had someone tell me that these shirts were not to hit the hands of the public, is that true?

Answer
Hi Debra,

While not knowing the entire answer to this, I imagine that the shirt was not meant for the public.  The nascar officials wear it as a form of ID at the racetrack to get onto pit road, the garage, etc.  So if everyone had access to one, then a lot of people would get privileges they don't need.  If you put it on ebay and describe it as an official shirt of a track official in 2000, you might get quite a chunk of change.  Of course, it is a shirt and I don't imagine that it is still in the original packaging, so you might not want to retire with what you make on it.  Still, it will be a nice bit that race fans would pay a lot to have.
Hope I helped
