NASCAR Racing: All About Nascar, daytona beach fl, history of nascar

Hi, first I would like to start off by saying that I am currently writing an essay about Nascar.  My brother-in-law and I have a deal that if I write up a 10 page report by Christmas day, then he will take me to see a movie.  I know that sounds somewhat silly, but my him and I always do stuff like this.  I am writing you to ask if you would be able to send me some information about Nascar.  I have gone to their official website, but it didn't really sum it up for me.  It had a lot of stuff on there and I am not positive about exactly what to focus my essay on.  If you could please send me some general information about Nascar: When did it start? What were the responses of people when it did start?  Where did it originate from?  If you could possibly do this for me it would be greatly appreciated!  Please and Thank You!

Well, NASCAR started when hillbillies that ran moonshine decided to start racing eachother. NASCAR was as popular back then as it is now. A lot of peopple believe that NASCAR started in Western North Carolina, and thats where the racing started, but the sanctioning body itself was founded and is still Headquartered in Daytona Beach, FL.

Wikipedia.com has a good, long history of NASCAR on it.

The one thing you should focus on is the growth of the sport since the late 90's, and how its redneck stereotype is trying to hold it back.
