Answer
Actually, he was around for more than just a "short while". The Rahmoc team started in 1978 with Bob Rahilly and Butch Mock as owners and Mock driving. He only drove in the first season then many different "journeyman" drivers drove the car over the next few seasons, amongst them: Harry Gant, Tim Richmond, Joe Millikan and Joe Ruttman. In 1983 Neil Bonnett took over and they had their greatest success with Bonnett winning two races. Over the next few year such drivers as Lake Speed, Morgan Shepherd, Dave Marcis and Jody Ridley drove the Rahmoc car with Bonnett returning in 1987 before breaking his hip in a crash 2/3 of the way thru the season. He returned in 1988 and won 2 of the first 3 races but things tailed off quickly and Bonnett left at the end of that season. The team had many drivers over the next few years before Bob Rahilly sold out his half of the team in 1992. Mock continued as sole owner before selling out to Darwin Oordt in 1999 and the team became known as Galaxy Motorsports. Legal problems caused Oordt's driver, Wally Dallenbach to sue in 2001 and the team shut down with Mock returning to assume ownership and sell off the equipment.
Butch Mock is currently co-owner of Mock Properties in Statesville, NC, a real estate development company.
