NASCAR Racing: Nascar racing tactics, fuel mileage, powerful cars

Question
I watched a little Nascar before. I just saw powerful cars zooming ahead and occasionally stopping at the pit stop and that's it. What are the strategies and tactics in Nascar besides having the fastest car and the best pit workers. What maneuver do racers do on the track? How does their teammates help them? Finally are there any website that have info on the tactics of the sport.

Answer
I'm guessing "you're not from around these parts." Maybe European? Anyway, NASCAR started as a "my car is faster than your car" sport and has pretty much remained that way. There is not much in the line of tactics other than to run flat out and beat everybody else. The best drivers spend the majority of the race working their way to the front (or remaining there) of the pack, finding the right places to pass, what line to run (where on the track) and when to make the move to get to the checkers.
Tactics involve drafting (getting tucked up to the car in front to allow that car to break the force of the air (slip streaming as in the Tour de France), the "slingshot": using the car in front to break the force of the air, thus saving a little throttle to be used when you pull out from behind and try to pass. There are pit strategies: when to pit for new tires which will increase running speeds, stretching fuel mileage, etc.
I'm sorry but I really don't have time to go into all the tactics.
as for teammates? Unlike Formula I members of teams are not told to allow the "senior" member to win or to help him do so. They will help each other (most of the time) during a race but when the checkers are around the next corner it's every man for himself. Basically, the owner just tells them "Don't wreck both of my cars!"
I don't know of any specific site that has a list of racing tactics. try www.ehow.com for general info
