NASCAR Racing: Points and Winning, nascar legends, dave marcis

Question
Hello,
Two part question here....I am a Kyle Petty fan for some reason or another. I always wondered why, when he knows that he is NOT going to win a race, he does not stay out at caution flags and get the 5 points that are given to lead a lap. If he does this each and every race, that is close to 180 more points that he would have at the end of the season which would possibly move him up in the final standings.
Second, where is the best place to send autograph requests? I have a book of Nascar Legends that has already been signed by about 10-15 drivers, but I am trying to get it completely filled. Should I send it to the shops insured or should I try and get their home addresses to help insure that it will be looked at and returned? Thanks for your time!

Answer
First, there's nothing wrong with being a Kyle fan. I always root for him to do well. He's one of the nicest drivers there are and super funny too. I don't know why he doesn't do that either. One of my old favorites, Dave Marcis, did it every race and I'm sure it gained him a few spots in the standings every year.
On your second request, the best place to "send" a request for an autograph is to the team shop. But! I don't know that I'd want to send a book with autographs already in it. There's no guarantee it will come back. Finding home addresses would probably be futile. Your best chan
ce would be to go to a track, get yourself in the infield and hang out near the driver entrance.

I can tell you though, I am a hockey fan also and had a book about my favorite teams Stanley Cup wins from the 70's. I spent many years going to signintgs, old-timer games and a few other places looking to get every team members autograph. There were a couple I still needed and one of them was now the President of the team. I sent the book with a return envelope (postage already on it) to the player in care of the team. He signed it, got me another players autograph who worked for the team and also sent me signed 8X10. So....it's up to you. Do you feel lucky?
