QuestionI have a 1999 520i auto (100,000miles)which was running well until tonight.I tried to start the car but nothing happening except all lights flickering and alarm sounding off which stopped a short time later.I did notice over the last week that there were a few niggles with heater staying on after car turned off and also lights on drive indicator flickering when car off too.Most grateful for any thoughts on this ,cheers.

Firstly it sounds like the battery is dead or extremely low.
Heater and drive indicator lights should not be on at all when the ignition is off!
Sounds like an unloader relay is sticking on, and this would discharge the battery.I cant do a wiring check on every question, sorry thats just not feasible.
Get an auto electrician to spend a hour at most to diagnose it for you,or spend some time finding where the relays are(would tell you but varies country to country)and when the lights are flickering, a relay should be clicking on and off.Take it out, clean the connectors and reinstall it.
