BMW Repair: Evaporator replacement 2005 X3, heater core, receiver drier

Question
Hi, my car needs to have the evaporator replaced, should I also get my receiver-drier replaced as well?

Answer
Yes.  Any time an A/C system is broken into the drier should be replaced.

Unless the X3 is radically different than all other BMW's, you have probably found that replacing the evaporator is an expensive job, because so much of the interior needs to be taken apart.  If this is the case, I would strongly suggest replacing the heater core at the same time. Few bucks for the added parts, but almost no added labor.  If you need to go in and replace it later, it will be the same cost as the evaporator replacement.
