BMW Repair: BMW 318i 1997 shaking, obd connector, bmw 318i 1997

Question
hello. About couple of months back, i started having problems with my car when its in neutral. The car shivers a little bit and then reaches normal mode. I took it to Autozone and they said i need to change my sparkplugs because it said cylinders misfire. I did the tune up by myself but the problem's still not solved. Does anyone have any idea what are these symptoms inclined towards?

Answer
Having a BMW is one of the best feelings I know.Being able to help others in their quest to get their"Ultimate Driving Machine" up to par is also as good.BMW and other manufacturers have been committed to keep the enviroment's air quality the best it can be so Onboard Diagnosis(OBD)was introduced.Over the years it has made many changes. With that there has been many was to check the systems in each manufacturer and they all seem different in the littlest of design. In 1996 OBDII was created to combine all the manufaturers systems and make it all uniform so that all the systems need to be able to and can be checked by one common connector.Although you were able to access the universal OBD connector to get the codes BMW does have their own diagnostic connector. It is the round one under the hood. You do need to have that connector and program to get into the BMW systems.Being able to get information to some systems are able to be retreived by the universal connector.
You were able to get a code probably a 0300-0301,0302,0303,0304.Each of these mean the same with the difference being the cylinder(301'302'303'304)300 is random/multiple misfire. So that is why you replaced the spark plugs, thinking it might be that. The ignition system is more than plugs. That actually is the last part of the ignition. So you need to go to the beginning which is fairly easy as there are just coils and plug boots. Now if you put in the correct plugs(Bosch) and the compression is good, fuel pressure is good(you could have an injector leaking) the Coil pack maybe all you need
