BMW Repair: Daughters 325i, 4 quarts, fuse panel

Question
My daughter's finace bought her a 1995 BMW 325i shortly before he deployed. She did not check the oil, and called me a couple of nights ago when it would not start. The oil did not register on the dipstick, and the parts store near her breakdown location, only had 4quarts of oil on hand. I put those in, but it still did not get to the "full" mark. Knowing that I had at least 4 quarts of oil in the crankcase, I tried to start it ....to drive it to my house......the car would not start. The engine turns over normally, but does not show any sign of starting. Is there a low oil shutdown on this model? If so, how do I reset it so that the car will start?(I checked fuses, but did not see a bad one in the fuse panel......)

Answer
This engine holds 6 quarts of oil. If you were more than 4 quarts low, all kinds of damage could have occured to the engine.

There is no "low oil shutdown".

To do the work yourself, you need to determine why it's not starting:  Fuel, Air, or Spark.

I believe the engine may be fatally damaged.  I would recommend first starting at a BMW dealership to see if there is major damage.

Sorry!
